NGN Webinar - “An overview of DC traction protection systems”.

By ANC, 19 October 2015

The NGN will host a webinar on “An overview of DC traction protection systems”.

This webinar will be presented by Zahra Bayat, who received her BSc of Electrical Engineering from South Tehran University in 2007. Zahra is currently working as an Electrical Engineer (secondary system) in the area of protective relays and power study research in  the power supply upgrade division, a part of the Major Projects department at Yarra Trams.

DC electrical traction systems consist of the fixed components that enable power to be supplied to trains and trams for their traction and auxiliary operations.

The purpose of the system is to supply electric power to rolling stock for traction and auxiliaries. It may also accept power back to the network when regenerated through breaking by the train or tram. The electrical interface is the interaction of the traction supply with the vehicle based systems and components.

This presentation describes the DC protection system on traction substation and limitations and implications of the traction system.

Thursday 3rd December 5-6pm AEST (6-7pm AEDT).
