CIGRE to present Information Seminar in Perth
The CIGRE Board is to hold its annual planning and strategy day in Perth and will take the opportunity to present a short seminar covering what CIGRE is about and the potential benefit to members.
Executive Manager Terry Killen said that
"this will be an ideal and unique opportunity for both existing members and those who may just be curious about what CIGRE is and what we do to come along and get some information. We will have our Technical Chair speaking on our technical Australian operations as well as locals Phil Southwell (International CIGRE Fellow) and Perry Tonking (Horizon Power) who will give a summary of some of our international activities "
Western Power has kindly offered their theatrette in the CBD
The Afternoon will include addresses from:
- Terry Killen – (Executive Manager, CIGRE Australia) - What is CIGRE and what are its benefits
Terry will briefly explain what CIGRE is, the work areas covered and outline some of the benefits of membership.
- Phil Southwell – CIGRE Fellow – CIGRE – an International perspective
Phil will discuss and explain some of the Global work and how the international co-operation and network of CIGRE works to achieve outcomes.
- David Bones – CIGRE Australia Technical Chair – Addressing Australia’s Power System challenges
David will present some highlights from the recent successful Technical seminar held in Adelaide.
- Peregrine (Perry) Tonking – Convenor Working Group B3-43 Contemporary Solutions for Substations in Developing Countries
Perry who now works at Horizon Power, will present a summary of the work that the global working group he is convening has completed. This work has been well received at a CIGRE symposium in South Africa and is soon to be presented at TechCon SE Asia in Manila.
CIGRE Australia’s Chairman and board members will be present to discuss CIGRE and answer any questions that may arise.
