Phil Southwell was recognised with an Honorary CIGRE membership at the 2014 Paris Session.  His long years of work and contribution to CIGRE, both in our region and globally have now been recognised with the granting of one of 5 inaugural CIGRE Fellowships.

The Fellowship is a new CIGRE award which recognises CIGRE members who have been a member of CIGRE for more than ten years and have been acknowledged as consistently contributing to global technical activities in a leadership role.

The granting of the Fellowship award follows a nomination process from the National Committee including two letters of support outside of his National Committee.

All nominations are then considered by the Global Award Committee who make a recommendation to the Administrative Council.

CIGRE Australia Chairman and MD Ausnet Services, Nino Ficca was delighted with Phil's success and recognition.

"To be one of five people globally to receive this award in its inaugural year is a fantastic achievement and is a very well deserved recognition for many years of work, both regionally and for the wider Global CIGRE.  I and the board commend Phil on this award and look forward to witnessing  the presentation at the Paris session in August."  Nino Ficca - Chairman CIGRE Australia

Phil will receive his award along with the other four international recipients at the CIGRE Paris session in August.
